Dear SEES Families,

This is Emily Parra, the proud new principal of San Elijo Elementary School, and I would like to welcome you to the 2019-2020 school year! I am overwhelmed by the support and warm welcome I have already received in my short time here. Thank you! This week I committed myself to getting into all classrooms so I could introduce myself to students, explain my behavior and learning expectations, and share a book about friendship, empathy and perseverance called Ricky the Rock That Couldn’t Roll. I enjoyed interacting with your students this week, and I look forward to being in classrooms regularly this year.

This new school year brings great opportunity for your children to build upon their individual gifts and reach toward new goals. We are excited about the promise found in each student that calls SEES home. We believe the greatest investment in each of our students is time spent learning, engaging, and being challenged to rise to higher levels of success within the classroom.

We further believe that in order for our students to achieve success, we must partner together with you to ensure their best outcomes. Our community is incredibly dedicated to supporting our students, and I look forward to working with all of you this year. Our amazing PTO has already been hard at work ensuring our students are well supported in the learning environment. They have many wonderful things in store for us this year, starting off with Cash for Kids. Flyers will be coming home next week with more information about Cash for Kids, so please be on the lookout!

We are also looking for support with our Running Club. Running Club will be held every Wednesday morning from 8:15-8:45. The students run laps around the field with a running card to earn rewards for 5, 10, 25, 50 miles. We would love volunteers to help out on Wednesday mornings to help pass out and mark cards ,and monitor/cheer on the runners on the field. If you are interested in volunteering for Running Club, please sign up here.

We hope that you enjoy this 3 day weekend with your family, and look forward to seeing you and your students Tuesday morning.

Warmly,
Emily Parra
